Sara Scribner earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Sculpture from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, graduating in 2005.

After completing her studies, Sara embarked on her professional artistic career. Her portrait work is rooted in the traditions of classical figurative painting, yet infused with a whimsical narrative quality. This storytelling element invites viewers to construct their own interpretations and narratives around each subject.

Sara is married to Shane Scribner, a fellow figurative painter whom she met during her time at the Academy. Together, they have exhibited their work extensively across their home state and have participated in juried exhibitions throughout the United States.

"Traveling the world through books, sifting through stories,
I find myths and folktales that use flora and fauna in their allegories.
When combined with realism, the results are contemporary paintings that speak a language that has been used by painters and poets for centuries.
Both flowers and animals have been used in symbolism by many different cultures.
Translating these stories and making them my own is where my creativity thrives."
